Started in 1960, Department of EEE is one of the oldest and most established department of the college. It has seen drastic developments in various fronts over the past decades and owes it majorly to the dedicated professors, students and their unrelenting work. The department is accredited by the AICTE, a 5 year accreditation. The department boasts 18 professors with 15 who have excelled in their fields and hold doctorates. Several courses are offered here B.Tech in EEE, M.tech in power systems, PED and doctorates in power system analysis, etc. PED was recently introduced in the department as a course, two years back. The quest for knowledge is the drive behind the diligent research projects being taken up in the department. The areas of research include power electronics, non-conventional energy, analysis of power systems transients using wavelets, etc. The department has two patents registered in its name. Apart from numerous international journals and research papers it also has a QIP programme for PHD, which apart from the IIT’s is given to only two other colleges in the country VNIT being one of them. Two of the professors have also been awarded prestigious ISTE best faculty award. The latest government funded project is the FIST for infrastructure development. The students have been an integral part of the department and have done it proud. Three students from the batch of 2011 secured a rank under 100 In GATE. The highest rank being 22. Few students have been accepted Into IIM’s for MBAs and Ivy league colleges abroad for MS. A majority of outgoing students have been placed in several companies with a highest package of 11 lacs. Apart from this international internships and scholarships have been awarded to meritorious students.
